How to schedule posts on X: step by step, with a queue
Learn how to schedule posts on X (Twitter) with an automatic queue, the link in the first reply and your other networks along. Step by step in 5 minutes.
Posting on X every day is not about inspiration. It is about having a queue. You get the idea on the bus, at 11 pm or in the middle of a meeting, and the post needs to go out at 9 am the next day. Scheduling solves that. In this guide you will see how to schedule posts on X with Publishum, what the native X scheduler leaves out and three habits that protect your reach.
Why schedule instead of posting right away
People who post right away post when they remember. People who schedule post when their audience is awake. The difference shows in two weeks: an account that publishes at 9 am, 1 pm and 6 pm every day grows more than one that drops five posts on a Sunday and disappears for the rest of the week.
Scheduling also separates two tasks that fight each other. Writing needs calm. Publishing needs punctuality. With a queue, you write ten posts at once and let the tool handle the punctuality.
Step by step: schedule posts on X with Publishum
- Sign in with Google. Open Publishum and click “Continue with Google”. No new password to create and no card to enter at this point.
- Connect your X account. Click “Add account” and choose X. The connection uses the network’s official login (OAuth): you authorize it on X’s own page and Publishum never sees your password. You can revoke it anytime in your X settings.
- Write the post. Use the composer in the dashboard. If you want the same text on Threads, Bluesky and LinkedIn, tick those accounts. Different text per network only if you want it: just click the network’s tab.
- Check the counter. The X limit is 280 characters. The counter changes color near the limit and turns red when you go over. To test a text first, use the character counter per network.
- Pick a time or the queue. Set a date and time, or click “next in queue” to drop the post into the first free slot (9 am, 1 pm and 6 pm by default, all adjustable).
- Follow the link you get back. When the post goes out, Publishum shows the status and returns the link for each network. If something fails, you see the reason and a button to try again.
- Prefer WhatsApp? Use it. Send the text and photos to the Publishum number. The bot replies with a preview; you answer 1 to publish or 2 to schedule.
That is it. The first time, from sign in to scheduled post, takes about five minutes. After that, thirty seconds.
What the native scheduler does not do
X has its own scheduler, and it works for the basics. But it has clear limits:
- Desktop browser only. Native scheduling lives in the X composer on the web. It does not show up in the mobile app.
- One post at a time. You pick a date and time for each post, by hand. There is no queue that releases one post per slot.
- No link in the first reply. The native tool publishes the post exactly as written. Moving the link to the first reply is up to you, in real time.
- No other networks. A post scheduled on X stays on X. Threads, Bluesky and LinkedIn have to be done separately.
If you post once a week, the native tool is enough. If you post every day, on more than one network, a queue saves hours a month.
Three habits that protect your reach on X
Respect the 280 characters
Text cut off mid-sentence looks careless. Write short, put the main idea on the first line and use line breaks to let it breathe. If the text was born long for LinkedIn, use the X tab for a tighter version.
Put the link in the first reply
A link in the body of the post hurts reach on X. There is another reason too: on the official API, a post with a URL costs 13 times more than a regular post. That is why Publishum can move the link to the first reply for you and shows how many link posts you have left this month.
Know your link post quota
Each plan includes a quota of link posts on X: 10 on Solo (R$29), 50 on Creator (R$79) and 150 on Studio (R$249). Above the quota, a link post costs R$1.50 and you are warned first. Posts without links have no limit. See the details on the pricing page.
How much time this saves
Think of four networks, one post a day. Opening each app, pasting, adjusting, publishing: about ten minutes a day, almost five hours a month. With a queue, you write the week on Sunday in half an hour and check the links whenever you like.
