How to schedule Threads posts with Meta's official API

Step by step to schedule Threads posts with Meta's official connection, 500 characters, carousels of up to 20 images and an automatic queue.

Threads became a daily network for many people who left X or who already lived on Instagram. And a daily habit needs a schedule. In this guide you will learn how to schedule Threads posts with Publishum, using Meta’s official connection, and what Threads’ native scheduling still does not solve.

First things first: use the official connection

Threads has had an official API since 2024. That matters because many third-party apps still ask for your password or automate a browser, which can get your account locked. With the official API, you authorize through Meta’s login, the token renews on its own and nobody sees your password. That is the path Publishum uses.

Step by step: schedule on Threads with Publishum

  1. Sign in with Google. On Publishum, click “Continue with Google”. No new password, no card at this point.
  2. Connect Threads. In “Add account”, choose Threads. You are taken to Meta’s login (OAuth), authorize publishing and come back to the dashboard. To revoke later, just go to your Threads settings.
  3. Write the post. In the composer, write the text and tick the accounts. The same post can go to X, Bluesky and LinkedIn. If you want different text for Threads, click its tab.
  4. Check the counter. The limit is 500 characters. The counter changes color at 450 and turns red when you go over. Want to test before opening the dashboard? Use the character counter per network.
  5. Add media if you like. A photo, a video or a carousel of 2 to 20 items. Publishum warns you if any file goes over the limit.
  6. Pick a time or the queue. Set a date and time, or send it to the next free slot in the queue (9 am, 1 pm and 6 pm by default, adjustable).
  7. Follow the link you get back. When the post goes out, you see the status and the link for each network. If Meta is slow or something fails, you see the reason and a button to try again.
  8. Or send it on WhatsApp. Send the text and photos to the Publishum number. The bot replies with a preview and you answer 1 to publish or 2 to schedule.

The first time takes about five minutes. After that, thirty seconds per post.

What the native scheduler does not do

Threads now has its own scheduler, and it handles the simple case: one post, one time. Beyond that, there are gaps:

If you post now and then, the native tool is enough. If you post every day, on several networks, a queue makes the difference.

Tips for Threads posts

Make good use of 500 characters

That is almost double X. You can tell a short story, but the first line still decides whether people stop scrolling. Lead with the main point and leave the context for later.

Carousels are the strongest format

Threads accepts carousels of 2 to 20 images. Each image can be up to 8 MB and video up to 5 minutes. A carousel with a step by step or a before and after usually performs better than a single image.

Watch the daily limit

Meta limits each profile to 250 posts per day. Few people get there, but anyone automating through the API or Claude can hit it without noticing. Publishum counts and warns you first.

Reuse with care

Sending the same text to X and Threads works, but X cuts at 280. Write the long version for Threads and use the X tab for the short one. The counter shows both at the same time.

How much it costs

Publishum has three plans, paid by Pix: Solo for R$29, Creator for R$79 and Studio for R$249 per month. All of them publish to Threads; the difference is the number of accounts and the automation features, like the API and MCP. See everything on the pricing page. There is a 7-day guarantee: if it is not for you, we refund your Pix.

Start now

If you want to post on Threads every day without opening the app at the right time, check out the Publishum page for Threads. Connect through Meta, write the week at once and let the queue publish. Your next post can go out thirty seconds from now.
